Julie Corcoran is a fine art photographer based in Co. Cavan. She moved from Dublin in 1999 and discovered her love of photography among the drumlins.
Julie describes her fine art photography as conceptual; each image born out of an emotion or concept. She photographs everything herself, travelling if needs be to get the raw materials she needs; a photograph of a cutaway bog or line of trees.
Julie’s technique then combines the digital photographs in layers using specialist software. She adjusts focus, opacity, colours and lighting to produce pieces that look they were painted on canvas rather than manipulated on a screen.
Julie successfully submitted a panel of 15 images to the Irish Photographic Federation (IPF) to gain an Associateship Distinction in 2017. She was awarded the Artiste FIAP Award in 2019 from the Federation Internationale De L’Art Photographique (FIAP). She has also won individual medals for her work, most recently a silver medal at the 5th Swedish Small Print Exhibition.
