Frank Eyre

Frank was born and brought up in Bangor, Co. Down, although he lived and worked in Bristol between 1980–1984.   As a young child he remembers that he was rarely without a pencil in his hand and drawing was his favourite occupation.   It was an easy decision on his part to go to the Art College at Ulster University to study Fine Art and in 1989 he graduated with a BA hons.

From then on, he has had a professional career as a commercial artist and taught drawing and painting at what was to become Belfast Metropolitan College until his retirement in 2015.  While teaching at the MET, he obtained his MA in Fine Art.

Frank’s painting are masterclasses in tonality and subtlety, evoking an emotion, rather than a tangible remembrance.  His palette uses the more subdued end of the colour spectrum, yet still manages to convey a sense of light and space.  His charcoal drawings are impressive studies of the human form, with all its weaknesses and strengths.  He manages to capture a moment, at thought, a feeling, in just a few well-placed strokes.

His work is much sought after, and is held in numerous private and corporate collections, including British Telecom, NICS, and the Deutsche Bank.   Exhibitions include venues in New York, London, Mexico, GB and China.
