Barbara studied design at university where she fell in love with the possibilities presented by paper. Using nothing more than a sharp knife and sheets of coloured paper, she crafts beautiful and realistic images from these basic materials. Each piece is unique: ‘I have no idea how a piece will end once I’ve begun’, explains Barbara, ‘I simply start at the centre and let the colour and patterns of the natural forms that inspire me create their own order.’
Barbara Kerr was born in Belfast and graduated from the University of Ulster with a BA Hons in Art and Design. She works with acid free paper and a scalpel to produce unique pieces that explore colour and pattern of natural forms that inspire her.
She has exhibited in many group shows that include shows in Queen Street Studios, Golden Thread Gallery, Crescent Art Centre and the Ulster Museum. Her work can be found in private collections in UK, Europe and USA.
